"I was instantly taken aback by how fun and vibrant the office was"
I joined Talent in January and I was instantly taken aback by how fun and vibrant the office was. I initially spent a week with all the other graduates from around the country, learning the basics and getting to grips with the role. This was a great chance to bond with others in the same position while learning more about Talent.
Getting settled at my desk was made surprisingly easy by the others in my team. Any problem I had was answered and everyone is here to give advice if you need it. The best way to describe the atmosphere in the office is ‘work hard play hard(er)’. If you make a deal, you’re guaranteed to have the whole office joining you at the pub to celebrate. It’s fair to say we like to celebrate any win, big or small.
I focus on the permanent creative market in London. This market is really broad which keeps it interesting, and I place anyone from user researchers to UX/UI Designers. I spend my time consulting clients on the type of designer they need for their product. It’s really interesting looking at different portfolios and seeing how complex designs come about.
Hitting targets is always matched with some sort of reward. So far, I’ve spent days out bowling and getting ridiculously competitive at beer pong (my team won!) It’s nice to know that your hard work is being recognised.
Most recruitment agencies struggle with retention of staff – however, my team at Talent has only continued to grow since I joined and we are about to welcome four more people on my desk alone.
My first AGM was quite an experience. I was constantly putting faces to names I had heard of, whether they were top billers or new graduates. To paint the picture: at 3am, I was still dancing alongside our COO, directors, training manager, senior consultants and new grads that had joined that week. I am looking forward to next year already!
I imagined my first job would be dull and tedious but that couldn’t be further from what my first eight months have been.
I can’t wait to see what comes next!

"Joining Talent was the best decision I ever made"
I started at Talent back in January and I can honestly say that it was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
Prior to joining Talent, I was five months into a recruitment role at another company and it was a shocking experience all around. Luckily, I met Jon Butterfield (Talent’s UK CEO) at a social event. We immediately clicked, and after a conversation with him, I decided it was right for me to join Talent!
Since I started working here, my opinion of recruitment has gone up dramatically. The training and support I have received have been brilliant – from day one, I have had all the support I could ask for from all members of the team. I now feel very confident in my skills to become very successful.
I specialise in Product Management, and it’s safe to say this market is booming. I deal with Product Managers, Heads of Product and Directors on a daily basis. My confidence in selling myself and Talent to these top companies is the highest it has ever been, and it’s growing every day.
I have now successfully placed 5 people into roles and I have a healthy-looking pipeline for future placements. I have been up and down the billing leadership boards since I started.
My highlight since starting here was receiving an award at Talent’s AGM! The award rewarded the highest graduate fee in a year: £18,000. Given that I had only been here for 6 months at this point, receiving it gave me real confidence to continue doing what I am doing. It also confirmed that I’d made the right decision joining Talent – from meeting Jon Butterfield to receiving this award from him, I know he supports me in my growth. (And this picture proves it!)
I’m very much looking forward to another successful six months – followed by 12, 18, and many, many more.
